Have you heard about that little production company called Blumhouse?  You know, the people who’ve made virtually every major horror film over the past 5-10 years?  Well, the “Pixar of Horror” has heard about our little movie EAT and they have A LOT of really cool things to say about it.  “Cinema In Extremis: Six Recent Extreme Horror Films You May Have Missed” is a sweet list on Blumhouse.com right now and among the brutal titles is our very own, EAT.  Pretty damn exciting.  You can check it out here!

And just a reminder, if you're wondering where you can watch EAT, it's available to stream for FREE for all Amazon Prime members.  Do you use Amazon Prime?  Of COURSE you do!  So go stream it there (get a Fire Stick, they're cheaper than Blu-Ray players).  If you don't live in America, you can get it in most regions on Blu-Ray and DVD.  If you're an adventurous American, try and track down the German Blu-Ray.  It has a dubbed German version, but also just the regular ol' English version as well.  It plays great on a PS4 and a few other Blu-Ray players but not all.  So, again, if you're adventurous and again...get a Fire Stick ;)

Put EAT on Your Radar!

This is awesome!  The cool folks over at Modern Horrors made an awesome list of 15 Modern Indie Horror Movie to Put on Your Radar and EAT made the list!  We’re very excited.  Not just because EAT made the list but because now I have a bunch of other cool horror movies to check out.

Look At This Artwork

Holy Shit … look at this artwork.  Oskar Ankarudd painted this beautiful portrait of Meggie Maddock as Novella McClure using acrylics and pencils on gessoed board.  Oskar’s work is photoreal and lifelike.  It reminds me of Drew Struzan, the Michael Jordan of movie poster artists.  Words can’t describe how beautiful and lifelike Oskar’s painting is.  It perfectly captures the spirit of the film and character.  Thank you Osker!!  This is just the coolest thing ever.

Fan Art and Featurettes

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to share some awesome fan art from the very talented Em Fripp.  I love this concept.  Novella munching on her foot with Candice blindly looking away, but still standing guard.  So awesome.

Em sent me this and asked about our Making-Of Featurette.  EAT has been released on DVD/Blu-Ray in numerous parts of the world.  Some of the DVDs/Blu-Rays don’t have the Making-Of Featurette for whatever reason.  Because of that, we split the featurette into a 15 episode Web Series.  It’s the same footage and everything, just split up into different episodes.

The Making of EAT: Web Series Now Online!

Hey folks!

Exciting news!  The Making of EAT: Web Series is now online.  That’s right!  You can watch the first episode, Day One RIGHT NOW!  And then in 48 hours (Sunday morning), Day Two will be released.  And then every episode after that will come every two days.  

We are very happy with how this all turned out.  I’d like to once again thank the cast and crew of EAT, particularly Hawk Vaccaro who caught a lot of great moments on video.  Now what are you waiting for, go check out The Making of EAT: Web Series!

EAT is available NOW!

Hey folks!

In case you didn’t know, our first feature film EAT is available to rent/buy in the US right now!   That’s right!  You can grab EAT on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, XBox Video and Vudu.  This is obviously a big deal for us, so be sure to grab a copy while it’s hot.  And if you play your cards right, you can win some free swag!  

After you watch EAT and love it, be sure to Tweet/Instagram/Facebook about it on all of your social networks using the hashtag #EatTheMovie.  This is going to be a “word of mouth” type release so we need your help spreading that word.  This week and next, we’ll be scanning the internet and finding the best #EatTheMovie tweets/photos/posts.  Winners and prizes will be announced on this site and EatTheMovie.com.  Bring the noise, people!

A lot of you have been asking about DVDs/Blu-Rays, Netflix and Redbox.  That stuff is still being worked out and there are no answers yet.  But once we know what’s going on, we’ll let you know.

Regarding Piracy:  I think most people understand pirating movies hurts independent filmmakers so I won’t repeat the same argument you’ve heard a million times before.  But I can tell you we financed EAT completely out-of-pocket.  Annie and I are back to our day jobs and writing movies on the weekend.  We’re not sitting on a beach and fielding phone calls or anything like that.  We’re just two filmmakers who make horror movies in their apartment.  We understand the reasons why people pirate movies.  We simply ask you support us and our work :)  

This has been a very long road and the destination is finally here.  We couldn’t have done this without all of your support.  And we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

EAT Soundtrack!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to let you know the EAT (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) will be available for pre-order on 11/10 and then available everywhere on 11/18.  If you pre-order the album you can download four songs, two of which are titled "Suck it, Slut!" and "Do You Do Anal?"  One of those songs is pretty and you'll love it. The other isn't and it will make you eat your arm off.  I'll let you guess which, for now.

Also, if you've seen EAT, you know that Jeffree Star's "Beauty Killer" during the opening credits is the coolest part of the movie.  Well, guess what?!  That awesomeness is already available to download/stream! Put that sucker on your "Wake Up Mix" and get ready to kick some ass!

Atlanta!

There's just been too much good news lately.  I just heard EAT won Best Horror Feature at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival.  We're very honored and can't get over how exciting this is.  First Sacramento and now Atlanta.  I'm starting to think you guys actually like this movie ;)

11/18/14 • EAT US Release Date

Hey everyone!

Boy, do I have some big news for you!  EAT has a US release date and it is 11/18/2014!  That’s in just a few weeks!  On that date, EAT will be released on iTunes, Amazon, YouTube/Google Play, XBOX and VUDU.  It’s finally here, folks! 

Just two years ago, on 11/9/2012, we announced EAT was in full swing.  Last year, on 11/15/2013, we had our World Premiere at the Denver Film Festival.  And now, on 11/18/2014 EAT is being released in the United States.  It’s been a crazy couple years.  But this isn’t the end of the line.  We still have a whole slew of international territories to announce and some more film festivals on the horizon.

Annie and I couldn’t be more grateful to our friends, family, cast and crew for their love, support and hard work.  We also want to thank Boulderlight Pictures and The Orchard.  Without them, this literally wouldn’t happen.

11/18 is going to be a pretty kick ass time.  We have a some fun ideas in mind that involve you watching the movie and getting prizes for it.  Stay tuned.

Sacramento!

Whoa!  EAT won Best Festival Feature at The Sacramento Horror Film Festival!  This is crazy news and I can't tell you how honored we are.  Thank you Sacramento and we hope to be there again very soon.

Atlanta!

EAT has been officially selected to the Atlanta Horror Film Festival.  The festival runs this Halloween, from October 28-31.  So it should be the perfect way to spend All Hallow's Eve!

Sacramento!

EAT has been officially selected to the 8th annual Sacramento Horror Film Festival!  If you're in Northern Califormia on October 10-12, go check it out!  The festival has a ton of cool events planned (Troll 2: Live, anyone?!) and even better movies scheduled.  This looks like a fun festival for sure!

Sitges!

EAT has been officially selected to Sitges!  That's right!  SITGES!  We're heading to Spain!

We're very excited and even more excited to be playing in the Midnight X-Treme section.  All the info can be found on the Sitges website, so check it out there.

EAT at NIFFF!

EAT is an official selection to the Neuchatel Internation Fantastic Film Festival also known as NIFFF.  This is big news!  NIFFF is located in a beautiful country called Switzerland and we'll be there!  EAT is screening twice in the Ultra Movies category:

Tuesday July 8 // 10 :45PM // Temple du Bas

So if you're in that area of the world, check it out!  Some amazing films including The Sacrament, Starry Eyes, Stage Fright, Extraterrestrial, It Follows, and Wolfcop will all be showing. Word on the street is Kevin Smith and George RR Martin will be there as well.

Ain't It Cool News

The fine folks at Ain't It Cool News (specifically Ambush Bug) has give EAT its first official review...and it couldn't be kinder.  I am so honored to have such an influential site like AICN give a movie of mine such a great review.  I'll let it speak for itself, but my favorite line is "But the most uncomforting aspect of EAT is that it does such an effective job of pulling the viewer in to care about the characters before putting them through bloody, gory hell."  Ambush Bug clearly understood the movie and what we trying to make and it means a lot of have someone recognize that and appreciate it.

Novella wants to become a star so she can fuck Michael Fassbender. Well, that’s not the only reason, but one she gives when she asks about what she wants to do with her life. She’s a wannabe model/actress who is finding it harder and harder to find roles and with rent and other stressors in her looming, she has developed a nasty habit of biting her cuticles and fingernails. But as the stress mounts, her habit is starting to intensify and by intensify, I mean, she’s starting to eat more than her cuticles and fingernails.

Stories like Stephen King’s SURVIVOR TYPE and ANTHROPOPAGUS where the protagonist begins eating themselves out of sheer desperation and hunger came to mind immediately upon watching EAT, a new film by Jimmy Weber and one you’re going to want to watch out for if you like psychologically horrific gorefests. And man-o-man is this a gorefest. But instead of being one of your typical gorefests where it’s nothing but a showcase for bloody wounds and nasty effects, EAT delves into psychological issues so deep with characters so rich, even if you are easy to nauseate, you’re going to have trouble turning away.

Writer/director Weber has orchestrated a symphony of psychologically damaged people with this film. Meggie Maddock is instantly likable and gorgeously engaging as Novella, a deeply scarred young lady who has a distrust in doctors ever since her father died on the operating table having a routine procedure. It’s no wonder when she begins to harm herself that she keeps her distance from doctors and refuses to get help. Her best friend Candice (Ali Frances) is over protective of her as Novella does seem to have that broken wing personality that brings out the parental instincts in people. When Novella’s bad habit of eating her own flesh gets out of control, it’s hard not to feel for her in this time of ultimate desperation. Weber seems to have covered all of the psychological bases in mapping out a flawed individual who surrounds herself with equally flawed people while all the while holding an unflinching mirror up to the horrors that happen in Hollywood these days. And he does so without being clichéd or melodramatic. Every emotional beat hits its mark with just amount of power that it just rings right. It’s traumatic and horrible, but right, nevertheless.

EAT seems to be adding to a growing trend of horror films about body horror left untreated (see also THANATOMORPHOSE, AFFLICTED, and CONTRACTED). I know I go to the doctor as a last resort, not because I don’t care about myself, but because I have such a busy schedule and tight budget. Flawed thinking, I know, but I think it’s a feeling many experience in this new day and age of a multitasking generation where a costly doctor’s visit means more problems. EAT delves into this very human desperation with a gentle hand at first, leading the viewer in by having us care for these characters, and then comes down hard on us like a sledgehammer in the latter half.

EAT is a film that is not for the squeamish. It contains effects sequences that will make you wince and scream. But the most uncomforting aspect of EAT is that it does such an effective job of pulling the viewer in to care about the characters before putting them through bloody, gory hell. Depthy, unflinching, and utterly gross, EAT is a film that will make you want to pull away, but you won’t be able to. Everything from the performances to the music used is spot on. EAT will affect you like few other horror films do. It will twist your heart while it churns your stomach. Not just a gorefest, but a gorefest with character and depth. Do not miss EAT when it comes to a festival near you.
